Eliza Carroll

My artwork is a combination of my life experiences and stories which are mediated through the style and characters of 17th Century Russian woodblock prints called Lubki. These prints use simple graphics and narratives which I have adapted. My family have a Russian heritage and these prints are a part of my cultural upbringing in Australia. I want the work to be a dialogue with the audience about the way a person is shaped by both their positive and negative interactions and aspects of others, but with an emphasis on the positive aspects.
