My work explores the effects of Ibiza’s mass tourism and party scene on its surrounding environment. This series takes the seagrass Posidonia oceanica, known as ‘the lungs of the Mediterranean’, as a departure point. Each painting started as a figurative piece, before being doused in alcohol, set alight and burnt until only glimpses of the original image could be seen. This process of destruction was documented and presented here as a work of video art. This multi-disciplinary body of work seeks to use poetic and artistic strategies to draw attention to this environmental issue.
