Kelsey Ryan has a deep connection to the concept of place and the personal/psychological experience of a subject’s worldview. Her work seeks to investigate the parallels between mental health and the issues surrounding our transforming world, in particular the eco-anxiety which is driven by the growing awareness of humanities impact on our ecosystem. In the same vein that Frida Kahlo worked, which was to create a space that reflected and represented her own reality, Ryan aims to investigate the continuum of which humanities wellbeing is intrinsically linked to that of nature and of the world that we live within.
