Our perception of the self and notions of beauty are shaped by societal standards; your beauty is judged by how flawlessly your body does or does not conform to these ideals. My series Love Letter to the Body, explores body positivity by employing photography as a tool to assist self-acceptance of differences and changes. These photographs capture and present aspects of each subject’s body that are conventionally deemed unbeautiful. Rather than hiding these scars, this series focuses on these marks and aims to celebrate these as physical traces of struggle, strength and triumph. What could be more beautiful than that?
