Through the medium of photography, my work focuses on capturing a sense of identity to explore social issues that can inform personality. Through this series of self-portraits, my work engages with the experience of living with anxiety. It’s an all-consuming state of mind, like a shadow looming over me. The use of a slow-shutter speed and in-camera effects are used to evoke the ‘mindlock’ that can occur, where negative thoughts dominate my time. This autobiographical work employs photography in order to create a space of reflection on this important issue that many people live with.
