The focus of art and media in this current Anthropocene epoch is often restricted to the prepossessing living. The recent rapid decline in arthropods due to climate change is destroying complex ecosystems, resulting in concerning detriments to agriculture and economies. Arthropod Armageddon, a watercolour and pencil series pays homage to the essential arthropods, and the produce that relies on them. The lights framing each painting, reminiscent of Mariolatry are used to add veneration to the subjects. Each painting acts as a portrait to provide a deeper insight into the realities of extinction and the rippling effects of climate change.
