Moving Forward is a series of white on white drawings that reflect on a personal experience of childhood trauma. I have drawn on surrealists’ automatism, the process of mark making by suppressing the consciousness and allowing the subconscious to reveal itself. In doing this, I allowed myself to draw freely without representation. At first, the works appear as scribbles on a page. Through repetition the marks form a pattern, which responds to a narrative that came from a dream. The narrative focuses on the female body, struggling with the recovery process and overcoming adversity.
